CFAZ (Crocodile Farmers Association of Zimbabwe)

logoThe Crocodile Farmers Association of Zimbabwe (CFAZ) is a producer representative body that works closely with PWLMA in regulating the industry. This is achieved through a CFAZ Code of Practice, which defines the minimum standards with respect to crocodile farming and seeks to enforce ethical and humane practices in the farming of crocodiles. CFAZ has the responsibility to ensure that this Code is applied consistently by its members and is assisted in this by PWLMA requiring that all legitimate crocodile producers are members of the association body. As a market leader in the industry Padenga strives not only to meet the minimum standards defined but to exceed them in as many areas as possible.

PHL as an entity has been a member of the CFAZ since 1998 and is bound by adherence to the CFAZ Code of Practice and animal welfare best practices.

The data returns provided by Padenga, as well as other local producers, is collated by CFAZ and forms part of the Association’s Annual Report which is forwarded to the Zimbabwe Parks and Wild Life Management Authority and onward to CITES, as well as to the World Conservation Monitoring Centre in the UK. This information is critical in Zimbabwe meeting its reporting obligations to CITES and in giving confidence to the countries purchasing crocodile products that they come from officially sanctioned farms and have been produced on a sustainable basis.
